Top Male Swimmer
Tommy Wyher, Jesuit, Senior
Position: The 100-yard butterfly and 100 backstroke are his strengths, though Wyher probably would excel at any event he attempted.
Why we picked him: Wyher won titles in the 100-yard fly and 100 backstroke at last month's Class A meet, his sixth and seventh career state titles. Throughout his high school career, he has worked hard to maintain a status that keeps him at the top of any event in which he swims, whether it be on a county or state level. Wyher also has become one of the top swimmers for the Tampa Bay Aquatics swim club through his talent and speed.
Most Impressive Accomplishment: Wyher, who actually brought home four state medals in November (two relay, two individual), was the only Class A swimmer to break 50 seconds in the 100 fly at the state meet.
College Plans: Wyher will attend the University of North Carolina, where he plans to develop as a top collegiate swimmer with the help of coach Rich DeSelm.
Did You Know?: Wyher has an interest in majoring in either business or psychology.
