Girls Top Swimmer
Chelsea Nauta, Tampa Prep, Senior

Position: Freestyle, primarily

Why We Picked Her: Blessed with bona fide Olympic potential, Nauta won her sixth and seventh career state titles - in the 100- and 200-yard freestyle - at the Class A meet in November, earning All-America status in both events. She also is one of the top swimmers for the Tampa Bay Aquatics swim club.

 

Most Impressive Accomplishment: Nauta won the state finals in the 200 free by nearly four seconds and was the only swimmer in the 100 free finals to eclipse 50 seconds.

College Plans: She will attend the University of Georgia and train with coach Jack Bauerle.

Did You Know?: Nauta aspires to swim in the 2008 and 2012 Olympics. She plans to major in biomedical engineering at Georgia.
