CFCC schedules trips, train exhibit

Central Florida Community College has the following events planned:

- The college will host a trip to Italy during spring break 2007. The trip includes three nights in Rome, two nights in Florence and two nights in Venice. The cost is approximately $2,200, based on double occupancy, and includes airfare, hotel, breakfast daily, two dinners, guided sightseeing tours, and travel to and from airports and between cities. - The college will also sponsor a trip to China in October. The program costs $2,595 and includes hotel, three meals a day, a four-day Yangtze River cruise, and visits to the Great Wall, the Palace Museum, Tiananmen Square, the Three Gorges Dam, Shanghai Museum and more. The tour will be escorted by Dr. Joe Coffey. Group size is limited. Call 873-5804.

- The college presents a train exhibit at Webber Center Gallery. Independent collector Nelson Williams of Floral City will display "A Century of Big Tank Cars," featuring about 50 standard-gauge cars. Bill Glessner of Ocala will be running HO, O and S gauges in a Christmas snow village. The exhibit will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, except Dec. 24 and Dec. 31, when it is open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. It is closed Dec. 25. Webber Center Gallery is on the CFCC Ocala campus, 3001 SW College Road. For information, call 873-5809.

Exchange program seeks host families

International Student Exchange Programs is looking for host families for students ages 15 to 18. The students speak English, are fully insured, have personal spending money and expect to be included in household responsibilities. Area Veterans of Foreign Wars have announced the District 7 Citizenship Education Teacher Awards for kindergarten through 12th grade teachers.
