TAMPA - The Tampa Police Department's "Clean Team" made its first arrest Wednesday: A Tampa man was accused of dumping more than 2,000 pounds of commercial-grade demolition debris on city property.

Jimmy C. Wood, of 3201 N Sanchez St., unloaded the debris at a city-owned lot in the 2900 block of E Ellicott St. at about 6 a.m. Wednesday, police said. An unknown suspect, who was paid $450, helped him.

Detectives arrested Wood, 45, based on interviews and evidence at the scene.

Wood faces a third-degree felony and payment for the debris removal costs. He could receive up to 5 years in prison.

The Clean Team was started Dec. 1 to cut down on illegal dumping in Tampa.

I sure hope the police dept. gets to the fines collected. The fines could be a good source of $ for our police department. Fine the one throwing trash out their car windows too! A great source of revenue and a clean city. It's a "WIN-WIN"!
