Beethoven's Ninth: Idlewild Baptist Church will host the 80-piece Florida Orchestra and the 140-voice Master Chorale of Tampa Bay in a performance of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony at 8 p.m. today. Idlewild Baptist Church is off N Dale Mabry Highway, just north of the Veterans Expressway in Lutz.

Carrollwood Players: The play The Hobo and the Miracle will be performed by the Carrollwood Players at 8 p.m. today and Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday at 4333 Gunn Highway.

Tickets cost $20 and benefit a scholarship fund for young actors pursuing their performing dreams in college. Call (813) 265-4000.

'The Nutcracker': The Dance Theatre of Tampa will perform The Nutcracker at 7 tonight, at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday, and 2 p.m. Sunday at the USF College of Visual & Performing Arts Theatre 1, 4202 E Fowler Ave. Tickets cost $20 for adults and $15 for children 3-12. Call (813) 994-5310.

Broadway Theatre Project: The musical theater program held at the University of South Florida will take place from July 8-29. Live auditions will take place at 10 a.m. Feb. 3 at the University of South Florida Theatre Center, 4202 E Fowler Ave. Taped auditions are due Feb. 14. Applicants must be high school or college age and excel in either acting, voice or dance. Call 1-888-874-1764.

Carrollwood Players: The theater group is seeking scripts for its annual One-Act Weekend. The plays must be original, require minimal sets, props and costumes. Submissions should be postmarked no later than May 1 and be sent to P.O. Box 270116, Tampa, FL 33688. A $10 entry fee is required. Include street address, telephone number and e-mail address.
