New Tampa Rotary Club: The group will have its ninth annual Christmas Breakfast at its adopted school, Mort Elementary. The program will feature a choral presentation by Mort students. Also, there will be an update of the fifth year of the successful Rotary Club-Mort student incentive program, "Mort Manatee Market." Tampa Carrollwood Rotary Club: The group will begin its weekly luncheon meeting at 12:15 p.m. This week's meeting will be at Perkins Restaurant, 12650 N Dale Mabry Highway. Visitors and prospective members are welcome. Call 813 265-8184.

Carrollwood Business Networking Association: E. L. Mullen will speak at the weekly breakfast meeting. Meetings are at Piccadilly Cafeteria, 11810 N Dale Mabry Highway. Business cards and leads are exchanged. Call (813) 908-1266.

Genealogy program: Jimmie B. Keel Regional Public Library will offer "Wills and Probate Records" at 1:30 p.m. The library is at 2902 W Bearss Ave. Call (813) 273-3652.

Foresters, Tampa Branch: The group will meet for its monthly business meeting at Piccadilly Cafeteria, 11810 N Dale Mabry Highway. Members will meet for dinner at 5:30 p.m. followed by the meeting at 6:15 p.m. The International Fraternal Benefit Society provides benefits and financial services to its members and serves communities through fund raising activities, projects and volunteerism. Northdale OWLS: The Northdale Older, Wiser Lively Seniors will take a tour of Rocky Creek Retirement. The group will depart by bus from Northdale Park, off Northdale Boulevard, at 10 a.m. There will also be a free luncheon; reservations are required. The affordable senior living facility provides a safe, secure environment for independent and assisted living with furnished and unfurnished accommodations. Call (813) 963-3539.

Medicare Part D counseling/enrollment: Representatives from SHINE (Serving the Health Insurance Needs of Elders), through the West Central Florida Area Agency on Aging, will provide the services. The session will be at the Life Enrichment Center, 9704 North Blvd. The session about Medicare's prescription drug coverage program will be from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Medicare beneficiaries who did not choose Part D during the initial enrollment period earlier this year can enroll. Those who would like to change plans will be able to do so. Open enrollment will end Dec. 31. Bring a list of your medications and your Medicare card. Appointments must be made if you would like to speak with a representative. The program is open to the public; donations are welcome. Call (813) 932-0241.

Deaf and hearing connection telephone distribution: Florida Telecommunications Relay will provide free training and equipment to qualified Florida residents. The specialized equipment is for those who are deaf, hard of hearing or speech impaired to place and receive phone calls. The program will be offered from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Jimmie B. Keel Regional Public Library, 2902 W Bearss Ave. Appointments or walk-ins accepted. Call toll-free at 1-888-832-4314.

Library happenings

Online job searching: The Austin Davis Public Library will offer the free computer program at 3 p.m. Monday. Registration is required no earlier than one hour prior to the program; seating is limited. The library is at 17808 Wayne Road in Odessa. Call (813) 224-8153.

Health on the Internet: Tampa-Hillsborough County Public Library System has partnered with Forest Hills Center, through the library's electronic libraries (eLibraries). Looking ahead

New Tampa Rotary Club: The weekly breakfast meeting will be at 7 a.m. Dec. 22. Robyn Lorimer, camp director at Rotary Camp Florida, will give a semiannual update on new developments happening there. She will also inform members about herself and her vision for the camp for special needs groups. Summer Intern Program: College undergraduates and college-bound high school graduates, are encouraged to apply for the program by Feb. 15. H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center and Research Institute at USF is accepting applications for its 2007 Summer Program for the Advancement of Research Knowledge (SPARK). Students pursuing a career in biomedical science are eligible for this opportunity to contribute to the prevention and cure of cancer. Moffitt faculty will conduct the weekly seminars, which will be integrated directly into the cancer center's laboratories. Interns will plan and conduct real scientific studies while gaining experience in daily research. The program includes 40 hours a week for 10 weeks; students earn a stipend. Women and minorities are strongly encouraged to apply; 15-20 students will be selected for the program. Call (813) 745-3887.
