CRYSTAL RIVER - A man was arrested on charges of stealing from a former employer. Michael Jay Garcia, 39, a former employee of AAA Roofing, was arrested Friday by Crystal River police.

According to police, Garcia, of 5 S Lee Ave. in Beverly Hills, went to the business during normal hours and stole aluminum molding valued at $600, which he later sold at a local recycling center, according to police Chief Steven Burch.

About 1 p.m. Friday, employees noticed Garcia on the property and checked surveillance video, which captured his theft, Burch said. Later that afternoon, Garcia returned to the business to see an employee, Burch said. Police were called, and they found Garcia driving away from the business.

After Garcia was stopped and arrested, he admitted to the theft, Burch said.

Garcia was booked into the Citrus County jail on one count each of burglary, grand theft and dealing in stolen property. Bail was set at $27,000.

Police are reviewing additional surveillance video of Garcia at the roofing business, Burch said. More charges will likely be filed today, he said.
