The Citrus County PetMeals program urgently needs volunteers to pick up pet food at the Wal-Mart Super Center on State Road 44 in Inverness every Friday, Saturday and Sunday morning before 10 a.m.

The food will be delivered Monday through Friday to the Humanitarians of Florida at the Manchester House Spay/Neuter Clinic, 1149 Conant Ave., Crystal River. (corner of State Road 44 W and Conant Avenue across from Bow Wow Boutique and west of Stokes Flea Market.)

In June 2003, Citrus County Community Support Services, in partnership with the Humanitarians of Florida Inc., began the PetMeals program in in effort to help local seniors living on very limited incomes. Agency staff had observed that some elders receiving home-delivered meals would feed their pets before feeding themselves.

The PetMeals program helps homebound seniors in Citrus County provide nutritious meals for their beloved pets. For information, call Nancy Lietz at 527-5975 .
