City council delays talk on doubling its pay

The Brooksville City Council had planned to talk about doubling its pay at Monday night's meeting. But the meeting ran on with discussions about zoning and right-of-way acquisitions. When it came time to speak about the raise, Vice Mayor Frankie Burnett, the one who brought up the suggestion, said the issue should be taken up later in a workshop. No date was set for a workshop. Motorbiker dies of injuries in wreck Paul Mason had five children and six grandchildren. He worked as a mason and drank Budweiser from a bottle and danced often, sometimes on bar stools. He was going north when his motorbike hit the Oldsmobile. That was Dec. 3, and those who know him say Mason never woke up. He hung on at Bayfront Medical Center till Tuesday. He was 53. The crash was another driver's fault, police said. But that driver faces no more than three points on his license and a fine of $118.50. Here's what happened, according to Cpl. Michael Koch of the Port Richey Police Departmen: Mason was riding north on Grand Boulevard on his motorcycle about 2:30 p.m. Dec. 3 near U.S. 19. Floyd Biggs, 85, was coming south in the Oldsmobile. Biggs turned left, crossing into Mason's path, and Mason's bike clipped the back of the Oldsmobile. Mason hit the ground, hurting his head and chest. Dinner will be served from 6 to 8 p.m., followed by music provided by DJ Dave Conrad. A drawing for cash prizes will be at 8:30 p.m. DiCesare died in his sleep Sept. 6, leaving behind his wife, Laura, and three young children, Sean, Cory and Ryan. The Spring Hill resident was a coach for the West Hernando Little League and played in the Hernando County Family YMCA's men's softball league. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children under 12.
