Coast Guard Seaman 1st Class Tyler L. Powers, son of Dawn Powers of Gulfport and Scott Powers of Safety Harbor, graduated from the U.S. Coast Guard training center at Cape May, N.J. He has been assigned to the Coast Guard Cutter Acushnet at Ketchikan, Alaska. He is a graduate of St. Petersburg High School and attended Indian River Community College at Fort Pierce.

Coast Guard Chief Warrant Officer Christopher B. Pupke, son of Fred and Caroline Pupke of Largo, formerly of St. Petersburg, has retired after 29 years of service. He will work as a civilian employee in the Coast Guard Personnel Management Division of the Maintenance and Logistics Command in Norfolk, Va. Pupke is a 1977 Boca Ciega High School graduate.

Army Reserve Pvt. Zachary Lagodny, son of David and Lori Lagodny of St. Petersburg, graduated from basic training at Fort Knox, Ky. He graduated from Pinellas Park High School in 2006.

Army Pvt. Angel L. Martinez Jr., son of Myrna Martinez of Pinellas Park, graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. He is a 1998 graduate of Dixie Hollins High School.
