SCIENTOLOGY: Clearwater's Development Review Board approved a request Tuesday from the Church of Scientology to transfer the development rights for 82 residential units at its power plant on Court Street to the Oak Cove building. The church plans to use the building during the renovation of the Fort Harrison Hotel.

After beer took a one-year hiatus, Gasparilla has a sudsy sponsor once again.

Budweiser and local distributor Pepin Distributing Co. have signed a three-year deal to provide libations for the annual parade through downtown Tampa, said Darrell Stefany, president of EventMakers, which organizes the event.

The taps ran dry last year after Miller Brewing Co. pulled out of the event and left organizers scrambling.

Instead, Captain Morgan Spiced Rum stepped in as an alcohol sponsor and offered $3 mixed drinks along the parade route.

But it just wasn't the same without the brew.

The Jan. 27 Gasparilla parade will feature special 16-ounce aluminum bottles of Budweiser and Bud Light, he said. The suggested price is $3.

Budweiser also is planning an extensive recycling campaign, including multiple bins and a cleanup crew, during the event.
