Ruskin: Owners of a park for recreational vehicles are asking for a permanent security guard's residence and to raise the height of a perimeter fence from 6 to 8 feet. Park N Shade RV and Boat Storage of Ruskin sits on 28 acres east of U.S. 41 and south of 15th Avenue NE. The modification request goes to the County Commission on Jan. 10. PETITION 06-1799

Palm River: A storage and maintenance site for Hertz Rental Cars could be scrapped to make way for a self-storage and boat storage facility. Owner Betty Williams wants to rezone the 4.6 acres northwest of Causeway Boulevard and U.S. 301 from commercial to a planned development. Rolex Storage would raze several buildings on the property. Customers would be able to store personal property, including boats and recreational vehicles. County commissioners will hear the request on Jan. 10. PETITION 06-2105

Riverview: Property owner Mosaic Fertilizer is seeking to rezone 28 acres from agricultural to a planned development south of Riverview Drive between Interstate 75 and U.S. 301. If successful, the rezoning would turn the vacant property into 35 residential lots. Lot sizes would start at one-half acre.

Several neighbors objected to a zoning hearing master in November, saying that the development would add too much traffic and diminish safety for school children on their way to and from the bus.

The developer promised to create a 40-foot setback from the southwestern property boundary. The required setback is 15 feet. The County Commission will hear the request on Jan. 10. PETITION 06-0019
