How much money will Americans spend this holiday season?

The National Retail Federation forecasts a 5 percent increase over last year, bringing this year's holiday spending to roughly $457.4-billion. Holiday retail sales are those that occur in November and December and include most traditional retail categories such as discounters, department stores, grocery stores and specialty stores.
