Laurence Veras, 68, retired, Clearwater How did you get started in investing? We sold our house, retired and had a very modest sum of money, so we invested a little. We had a couple of small stocks, in 1996. What is your best investment? CDs. And a Hartford annuity. What is your worst investment? Couple of small stocks I heard about on TV (that) I thought would be a good idea. Recently, Cardiac Sciences. What have you learned about investing that you think all investors should know? I think you should have a good financial adviser you can trust. How would you describe your approach to investing? Conservative. I don't have a lot of money to fool around with. To tell you the truth, I'd rather go to the race track. What do you find the most difficult about investing? Not too much. We rely on this financial adviser and we trust the guy. How are you invested? We're in CDs and that annuity. That's about it. And a little bank account. Do you think now is a good time to invest? Ask me about sports or philosophy. I can't answer that question. What is your goal for your investing? You know that bumper sticker: "We're spending our kids' inheritance"? We're not. We have four kids. We're trying to keep it for our kids. What is your biggest money concern? Nothing. I'm 68, man. I'm cramming for the finals. Where do you get your investment tips? I read the business section in the paper. Once in a blue moon, I'll flip on the stock channel (CNBC).
