FIRE AT CHURCH SUSPECTED AS BURGLARY COVER

Authorities think a fire discovered Christmas Eve at a Lutheran church might have been set to conceal a burglary. Firefighters arrived at Reformation Evangelical Lutheran Church about 1:15 a.m. Sunday and found a door forced open and flames coming from the office. A safe with less than $200 was taken. The chapel was undamaged, and Christmas services went on.

DAYTONA BEACH

Woman's instinct leads to neighbor

A woman's hunch paid off in the search for a neighbor. Christine Camp said she "just knew" that Helen Hosford, 83, who had been missing from the Towers condominium for four days, was still in the oceanfront building, the Daytona Beach News-Journal reported. She was found Sunday in a vacant apartment.

 LAKE MANGONIA

Man missing after sailboat capsizes

Divers were searching for a man whose sailboat capsized Christmas morning. West Palm Beach Fire Rescue spokesman Phil Kaplan said the man and his roommate drove to the lake Monday, the Palm Beach Post reported for Tuesday's edition. One man stayed on shore, and the other got on the boat, which capsized about 11 a.m., Kaplan said.
