No new films will open in Tampa Bay area movie theaters this weekend. These are the five current movies most highly recommended by St. Petersburg Times critics.

Rocky Balboa S ylvester Stallone brings terrific closure to the boxing saga. Almost as good as the 1976 original.

The History Boys The Tony Award-winning play goes to the movies with its original cast and wit intact.

Apocalypto Mel Gibson's ultraviolent historical epic establishes him as a filmmaker whose creative instincts are beyond question.

Dreamgirls A star is born (Jennifer Hudson) and another reborn (Eddie Murphy) in a fine adaptation of the Broadway smash.

The Good Shepherd Strong performances anchor an otherwise chilly and lengthy spy drama directed by Robert De Niro.
