Whatever happened to ...

Whatever happened to ...

There is a natural nosiness that lives inside us journalists and, I would presume, the lay people, too.

We talk about people and we wonder.

Whatever happened?

Folks grow up, grow old, move away and once in a while we see them in a photograph or trip on their names in a funny story.

Whatever happened to that Village Inn magician who struggled to get to his gigs?

Did the doctors making house calls ever get rich?

And what became of the special-needs moms in Westchase who wanted to start a support group for others like them?

Some of what we found was wholly predictable. The atheist at the University of South Florida Bull Market? Still an atheist.

Other stories took less expected twists and turns, not as happy as we might have hoped.

In Hunter's Green, a little girl who fell from a stair landing is still recovering.

At Sickles High School, a terrific program for handicapped teens is in dire need of a cash infusion.

As always, we offer these short updates as a way to tie up loose ends in our storytelling as our reporters take a bit of holiday time off.

We thank those who allowed us into their lives for these stories.

Peace be with you, and best wishes for the New Year.
