Today on "Divorce Smackdown": Police were called to the country estate of Paul McCartney after his estranged wife reported the theft of paintings - including a Picasso and a Renoir - from the lodge they once shared, police said Friday. Except there was no theft. "We checked the premises and spoke to Heather Mills (McCartney), and as a result, it was found to be a civil matter between her and her husband," Paddy Rea, a police spokesman in Sussex, England, told the Associated Press. "There's been no theft." Mills called police Thursday night after discovering that paintings valued at an estimated $19.5-million had gone missing, the Sun newspaper reported Friday. The Sun, quoting an unidentified friend of Mills McCartney, said McCartney had taken the paintings and reprogrammed the estate's alarm codes, and informed her Thursday night by text message. Neither Mills McCartney's nor McCartney's representatives were available for comment.
Hollywood endings
- Victoria Principal's 21-year marriage to her second husband is officially over. The Dallas star and skin care entrepreneur is single again after reaching a financial settlement with plastic surgeon Harry Glassman, according to court papers filed Wednesday in Los Angeles. The two have property interests worth more than $50-million, according to the divorce judgment. Principal, 56, and Glassman were married in June 1985 and lived in Beverly Hills. She filed for divorce in May, citing irreconcilable differences. Principal and first husband Christopher Skinner divorced in 1980.
- Also wrapping up a low-key divorce: Sandra Oh and Alexander Payne. The Grey's Anatomy star's marriage to the Sideways writer-director was terminated Dec. 21, more than a year and a half after she filed for the divorce. But things still really aren't over. The couple continue to work out six financial matters over pension and retirement funds, according to legal documents reported by TMZ.com. The couple wanted the divorce final this year, according to Oh's lawyers, because they wanted to file separate tax returns.
