Bush seeks federal help for counties

In one of his final acts as governor, Jeb Bush asked the federal government Friday for assistance for parts of the state hit on Christmas Day with tornadoes, thunderstorms and heavy rains.

Bush's letter to the Federal Emergency Management Agency cited Columbia, Lake, Pasco, Sumter and Volusia counties, where the most damage occurred Monday. He declared the areas to be in a state of emergency late Tuesday.
