Zkitchen bringing a market-like eatery to Central

The owners of ZGrille and Bowl-a-granola have joined forces at the Saturday Morning Market but will soon open a storefront along Central Avenue called ZKitchen. Combining granola, baked goods and California-Mexican fusion will result in something like a fresh market where customers can buy either prepared ingredients to make their own meals or a complete dinner to eat on the spot or take home. Zack Gross of ZGrille and Margaret Guidicessi of Bowl-a-granola are both transplants to the area but are eager to explore its untapped "foodie" customer base. The new venture, for which they haven't yet found a precise location, will look and feel not like a restaurant, but like a kitchen, the place where people like to gather anyway. There will also be a coffee bar and a newsstand as part of ZKitchen, which will also serve as the production area for Bowl-a-granola, and for the joint catering operations. A global feast Jose Luis and Catherine Pawelek met while working on a Caribbean cruise ship and have operated hospitality businesses all over the world, but are settling in Gulfport with their latest effort, Elements "Global Cuisine Without Boundaries." The new restaurant, which will open in January at 3121 Beach Blvd. S, will have a menu creating a fusion of flavors from tropical Floribbean, spicy Asian, wood-grilled South American and more. They will also feature wine by the glass, specialty drinks and artisan breads. The pair worked and traveled, ran three Miami restaurants, started a travel agency and school, then owned and operated a New Hampshire inn before deciding to relocate to Gulfport.
