DEC. 31 ' Tis the Season

Yoga/kirtan classes: TreeHouse Yoga Center will offer free classes on New Year's Day. The schedule includes: Flowing Yoga from 9 to 10:30 a.m.; Yoga Asana and Nidra (45 minutes of basic yoga followed by 45 minutes of deep relaxation from 12:30 to 2 p.m.; and All-In-One Yoga from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Also, Kirtan, meditative singing accompanied by harmonium, mandolin, guitar, drums and native flute, will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Classes are appropriate for all levels. Family New Year's Eve Celebration: The House of Prayer Church will sponsor the event at Buchanan Middle School, 1001 W Bearss Ave. The worship service will be from 8 to 10 p.m. Sunday. Other activities will include the SPEC and I.O.D. youth concert (free Sony PS 3 to the person who brings the most friends) and a comedy dinner show from 10 p.m. to midnight. Tickets are required for the show, available at the door for $7. A celebration and refreshments will start at midnight. Vegan potluck/bonfire/drumming: The New Tampa Vegans will host the event at the Natural Health Hut from 6 to 9 p.m. New Year's Eve. Celebrate the last sunset of 2006 while roasting veggie dogs, veggie sausages and making vegan s'mores. The event will include group drumming around a bonfire. Bring a vegan dish to share (no animal ingredients) and drums or noisemakers such as pots, pans, spoons, bells, bongos or blocks. Everyone is welcome, including nonvegetarians and children. 13 Ugly Men bash: This year's party features a live orchestra playing famous Rat Pack tunes, food and drink, and much more.
