The faces of generosity

As 2006 wraps up, I zip through hundreds of photos of partygoers to summarize a year of socializing for charitable causes. The same faces pop up week after week, and it's clear Tampa Bay is blessed with some formidable philanthropists, including these folks captured supporting their favorite fundraisers. There are many more, fortunately, just as generous, not to mention photogenic.

Having these movers and spenders on the guest list makes all the difference, as every event chairman knows. Even the most spectacular gala, with fabulous food, hip music and clever auction offerings, will flop unless the bids flow as freely as the Bordeaux.

So let's all drink a toast to the patrons and sponsors of nonprofit arts, health and social services in the community. Pour some more bubbly to salute the volunteers and staff who put those big checks to use. Here's to more giving to good causes in 2007. Happy New Year!
