These thrift stores benefit charitable organizations in Hernando County: "Cause for Paws" SPCA Thrift Shop: 9075 Grant St. Sunshine Grove Road to Taylor Street to Grant, west of Brooksville. Open 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. All proceeds benefit animals at the no-kill shelter. The shelter needs cash donations, salable items for the store, aluminum cans, clay litter and/or Purina cat and kitten chow. Volunteers are also needed to work in the thrift store. 688-8284, 596-8991 or 596-7000. Genesis Thrift Boutique: 2386 Commercial Way (next to Big Lots), Spring Hill. Open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through saturdays. The boutique sells gowns, men's suits, jewelry, shoes, purses and other items. Proceeds benefit a New Beginnings Life Center teen shelter. Both shops are open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays. There are special sales every day and an in-house silent auction each week. All proceeds benefit the Jericho Road Ministries men's shelter in Brooksville. Donations and volunteers are appreciated. 797-9009. Karen's Kit'n Kaboodle (St. Andrew's Thrift Shop): 2301 Deltona Blvd., Spring Hill. Open 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. The shop has regular "surprise special sales." 686-1114. Second Glance Thrift Store: 650 S Broad St., Brooksville (next to Save-a-Lot). Open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday. All proceeds benefit the Dawn Center.
