Palm Beach County homicide rate up 26 %

WEST PALM BEACH - Palm Beach County's homicide rate rose by 26 percent last year over 2005, according to law enforcement records.

There were 101 people killed in Palm Beach County in 2006, the highest number on record since 1994, when 102 victims were killed, the Palm Beach Post reported Tuesday.

Authorities said 28 people under age 21 were among last year's victims. Many were involved in gangs and drugs.
