Larry Beasley, general manager for the St. Petersburg Times' North Suncoast editions, is retiring after eight years with the newspaper.

He supervised business operations in Pasco, Hernando and Citrus counties and was instrumental in the planning and construction of the Hernando County and Crystal River bureaus.

"This is the right time for me to retire and spend time traveling with my wife and enjoying a little R & R," Beasley said.

Beasley, 61, has been active in community organizations during his tenure, including the Pasco County Educational Foundation, the Hernando County YMCA and Kids Voting Tampa Bay.

Before joining the Times in 1998, he was publisher of the Los Angeles Daily News. He began his newspaper career in Texas as a reporter, photographer and editor.
