Jam session: Citrus Jazz Society jam session of jazz and Dixieland music starts at 1:30 p.m. in the Magnolia Room of the Plantation Inn, 9301 Fort Island Trail, Crystal River. Dancing encouraged. Donation: nonmembers $7. Call 795-9936.

MONDAY

Free tickets: The St. Petersburg Times will sponsor a performance by the U.S. Air Force Reserve Concert Band at 2 p.m. Jan. 28 at Curtis Peterson Auditorium, 3820 W Educational Path, Lecanto. Free tickets, limited to four per family, are available 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday, Citrus Times offices, 301 W Main St., Inverness and 498 SE Kings Bay Drive, Crystal River.

TUESDAY

Card making: workshops offered by Citrus County Parks and Recreation 6 p.m., Beverly Hills Community Building, 1 Civic Circle. Make three Valentine's Day, one thank you, and one new home cards. Supplies provided, students bring their own adhesive. Fee: $15. Workshop repeated Jan. 30, call 527-7677 to register.

Genealogy club meets: The Citrus County Genealogical Society meets at 10 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints, 3474 W Southern St., Lecanto. Guest speaker Drew Smith, who teaches introductory genealogy at University of Southern Florida, will present "Where is the Book with My Family in it?" Nonmembers welcome. Call Mary Ann, 382-5515.
