HUDSON

Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church, 12321 Canton Ave., offers a contemporary music and majesty service at 6 tonight and worship services, celebrating the baptism of Jesus Christ, at 8:30 and 11 a.m. Sunday. Communion will be celebrated at all services. The church quilters will meet at 9 a.m. Tuesday to work on quilts for Lutheran World Relief, and a clogging class is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. St. Mark's Presbyterian Church, 7922 State Road 52, offers a lecture series, "I'm a Christian - But How Did I Get There?" at 2 and 7 p.m. beginning Monday and continuing on Jan. 15, 22 and 29. Pastor Whitledge will show how the Christian church developed from its New Testament roots and how Christians became a distinctive part of the church and what is unique about the Presbyterian "brand" of Christianity. Holiday United Church of Christ, 4826 Bartelt Road, offers a sermon, "Fear Not," by the Rev. Drew Willard at 10:30 a.m. Sunday. Holy Communion will be celebrated, and coffee fellowship is at 10 a.m. with children's Sunday school during the 10:30 a.m. service. Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 20735 Leonard Road, will celebrate the coming of the wise men at 8, 9:15 and 10:30 a.m. Sunday. The Rev. Gil Kuehn will speak on the theme "By the Numbers," and Matt Ellrod will sing Bethlehem Star. A family night is scheduled for 7:30 Monday as the college championship football game will be projected on a large screen in the church's Activity Center. The Presbyterian Church of Seven Springs, 4651 Little Road, will present a concert featuring the Spiritual Renaissance Singers at 4 p.m. Jan. 14. The group was formed in 1989 out of a concern that the rich legacy of African-American music in the choral genre was being neglected. The group formed to perpetuate the arrangements of African-American spirituals by H.T. Burleigh, William Dawson, John W. Work and others. Call (727) 372-7203.
