The City of Clearwater Public Utilities Department's Water Division is one of seven public drinking water utilities honored with the Association of Metropolitan Water Agencies' AMWA Gold Award, recognizing accomplishments in applying competitive business strategies to meet the expectations of drinking water consumers and municipal leaders.

"I am proud of the effort put forth by our employees to meet the expectations of our drinking water customers," said Glenn Daniel, Clearwater water superintendent. "We place a high priority on managing our water resources efficiently."

Clearwater recently built a 3-million gallon per day reverse osmosis water treatment plant and rehabilitated numerous groundwater production wells. The city continues expansion of its reclaimed water system for alternative irrigation sources and replacement of undersized and old water transmission mains to improve service to its customers.
