High school band to benefit from concert

The band Shae Laurel will play a concert of contemporary, traditional, bluegrass and Celtic music at 7 p.m. Saturday in the auditorium at Clearwater High School, 540 S Hercules Ave. Each of the four children in the band and their parents play several instruments, including Celtic harp, bodhran, fiddle, mandolin, banjo, guitar and bagpipes. Pet party to raise money for SPCA

You and your dog can dress to the nines and socialize with other pet lovers at the Kibbles 'n' Bids Silent Auction and Mutt Extravaganza to benefit the SPCA Tampa Bay in Largo. The event is scheduled for 7 to 10 p.m. Friday at the Sirata Beach Resort, 5300 Gulf Blvd., St. Pete Beach. The party will feature canine massages, professional pet photography, "Pet"-icures, hors d'oeuvres for people and pups, and a pooch pageant. The SPCA Tampa Bay, 9099 130th Ave. N, provides food, shelter and medical services for thousands of homeless and abused pets in its care each year. Cost is $95 per person. Library celebrates 10th year at site

The Tarpon Springs Library invites the public to an anniversary celebration commemorating 10 years in its building from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the library, 138 E Lemon St. Refreshments will be served. Show to feature Dixieland and more

Colonial Dames to meet Friday

The Berkeley Plantation Chapter of Colonial Dames XVII Century will meet at noon Friday at Stacey's Buffet, 1451 Missouri Ave. N. Barry Bohn from the National Armed Services and Law Enforcement Museum in Dunedin will discuss "The Deer Hide Trade." Members will bring items relating to colonial heritage for display. Women who are interested in historical colonial research and are lineal descendants of an ancestor who lived and served prior to 1701 in one of the original colonies are invited to attend.
