Three men have been charged with murder in the slaying of Angelia Headrick, 17, whose body was found Friday in a charred car in an orange grove south of Lake Wales.
The men lured Headrick to an apartment Jan. 3, and from there they went in her car to the grove, where she was robbed of money and a small amount of drugs and stabbed more than 20 times, Polk County sheriff's investigators said. The car, her body in the trunk, was then set afire.
Eric Rodriguez, 20, of Haines City, Gary Michael Glisson, 29, of Lake Wales, and Jarvis Jameal Mosley, 23, of Lake Wales all are charged with first-degree murder and robbery. Glisson and Mosley are also charged with arson.
"They killed her over $400, a little bit of cocaine and a little bit of marijuana," sheriff's Chief W.J. Martin said.
City wants state's surplus hurricane ice
Tamarac city officials want to use nearly $2-million worth of ice left over from hurricane season to water lawns.
The ice, stockpiled by the Florida State Emergency Response Team for hurricane relief efforts but not needed, is in cold storage in Bartow and Jacksonville, at a cost of $90,000 a month.
