The news came as a happy surprise to protesting neighbors: "We are probably going to have a neighborhood party this weekend to celebrate," said John Defiore. "We appreciate that (the owners) made the effort to look for another location." TAMPA Hospice will train volunteers for support LifePath Hospice is offering a free training session for volunteers willing to provide emotional support, companionship and respite care to patients and families. The next session will be 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Jan. 20 and Jan. 27, and 6 to 8:30 p.m. Jan. 29. Volunteers must attend all three classes; registration is required. He was a good friend. Daniel Frydrych was 11 when he died of cancer on Feb. 1. His friends at Rampello Downtown Partnership, where Daniel was a sixth-grader, will remember him Thursday in special ways. Looking into the night sky, they can pick out a star in the constellation Orion they had named after him with money they raised. They wear wristbands in school colors that read "A Starry Night." Before he died, Daniel painted a picture of himself climbing a ladder into a starry-night sky. They'll donate all proceeds from A Starry Night inaugural benefit concert to local nonprofit Faces of Courage, which helps children and families battling cancer. Throughout his 21/2-year battle with cancer, the organization helped Daniel and his parents, Holley Wade, a Hillsborough County emergency planner, and Daniel's stepfather, Tampa Fire Rescue Capt. Bill Wade. The event starts at 5:30 p.m. Thursday in Rampello's cafeteria, 802 E Washington St. For tickets, or to sponsor the event, call 226-8970 by Wednesday.
