Gems, minerals and rocks show: The Pinellas Geological Society presents its 31st Annual Gem, Jewelry and Mineral Show and Sale today, Saturday and Sunday at the Largo Cultural Center, 105 Central Park Drive. The show will include cut gems, silver and gold jewelry, beading, inlay work, ornamental mineral eggs and collections of rocks and minerals. 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. today and Saturday, noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. Printmakers exhibits: The 15th Florida Printmakers National Competition and Printmakers of the Dunedin Fine Art Center open with a reception from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the center, 1143 Michigan Blvd. Competition judge Joe Sanders, chair of Florida State University's art department, will lecture at 6 p.m. The art center show features the work of Dunedin Fine Art Center faculty and students. 'Wizard of Oz' on stage: The production is based on the original 1902 stage version of The Wizard of Oz. The show, quite different from the 1939 movie, was a huge hit and toured the country for more than a decade. 7:30 p.m. today at the Tarpon Springs Performing Arts Center, 324 Pine St., inside City Hall. $16 and $14. Yiddish folk and Gypsy jazz music in concert: The Yiddish songs, Gypsy jazz and Eastern European folk music of Nikitov have been popular throughout Europe and the United States since the quartet formed six years ago in the Netherlands. The group features Yiddish chanteuse Niki Jacobs, Gypsy jazz violin virtuoso Jelle van Tongeren, Eastern European music specialist Adam Good on acoustic guitar and Jason Sypher on double bass. 8 p.m. Saturday at the Tarpon Springs Performing Arts Center, 324 Pine St., inside City Hall. $18 and $16. Jazz and concert band performance: The Clearwater Community Concert and Jazz bands will give a concert Saturday in the Arts Auditorium at the Clearwater campus of St. Petersburg College, 2465 Drew St. The programs include the music of Gershwin, Dvorak, Strauss, Count Basie, Victor Young and Bobby Haggard. The jazz band performs at 2:15 p.m. and the concert band at 3. Doors open at 1 p.m. Free. Call 799-4437.

Meet the Artist: Brenda Hofreiter, who uses nature as the studio for her landscape paintings, will talk about her work from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Brooker Creek Preserve Environmental Education Center, 3940 Keystone Road, Tarpon Springs. Movie of Mozart opera: A free showing of Mozart's opera Don Giovanni will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday in the video center at Leepa-Rattner Museum of Art, 600 Klosterman Road on the Tarpon Springs campus of St. Petersburg College. Miniature art show: The 32nd Annual International Miniature Art Show opens Sunday at the Leepa-Rattner Museum of Art. The show, presented by the Miniature Art Society of Florida, features more than 800 paintings and sculptures by artists from the United States and many foreign countries. More than 100 pieces from the society's permanent collection also will be on display. Through Feb. 4. Open 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday (10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday). Nonmember admission is $5 adults and $4 seniors. Sunday is free to all. Other days free to museum and art society members, children and students with ID. Free film series: The Tarpon Springs Cultural Center Film Series is presenting Z at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the center, 101 S Pinellas Ave. The movie is based on the novel by Vassilis Vassilikos that depicts the events surrounding the assassination of a Greek politician and subsequent investigation. Honeymoon Island Guided Walks: The Florida Park Service offers ranger-guided walks of Honeymoon Island at 11 a.m. on Saturdays through March. The island is home to such wildlife as ospreys, great horned owls and gopher tortoises. Walkers can bring binoculars and a field guide. Meet the ranger at the head of the nature trail. The guided hike is free, though park visitors have to pay the regular park entrance fee of $5 per carload (two to eight people), $3 for one person in a car and $1 per person for walkers or cyclists.
