1. Lakewood (14-2): The county's most talented team, ranked No. 3 in Class 5A, has still yet to hit its stride.
2. Largo (14-3): The Packers are on a roll, beating Bishop McNamara, Clearwater and Gibbs in the past few weeks, putting them in the driver's seat for PCAC championship berth.
3. Clearwater (15-3): Lost heartbreaking thriller to Largo on Tuesday. The two rivals are now tied atop the district.
4. Boca Ciega (12-4): Finally found some consistency, with guard trio of Lamorya Daniels, Steve Andrews and Nehemiah Simpkins giving opponents fits.
5. Pinellas Park (13-3): Junior guard Cam Carden, who scored his 1,000th career point Friday, has led the Patriots to wins in 10 of their past 11. The toughest part of their schedule is coming up.
6. Calvary Christian (15-2): Wins over IMG and Oldsmar Christian give coach Dave Bintz his 500th win - and the Warriors some confidence.
7. St. Petersburg (11-5): Star sophomore Shamon Cox's buzzer-beating, 35-footer against Sickles gives Green Devils a leg up in Class 6A, District 11.
Recruiting update
Palm Harbor junior forward Adam Pegg has received offers from USF and Wofford. ... Coaches from Arizona State and Georgia will visit St. Petersburg sophomore Shamon Cox in the next few weeks. ... Clearwater junior guard Luke Loucks received an offer from FSU, which is very high on his list.
Alumni update
Pasco Hernando Community College sophomore Trevor Lee (Clearwater) has led the Conquistadors to a 15-5 start. ... UCF junior Mike O'Donnell (Largo) earned MVP honors at the UCF Holiday Tournament.
