Middleton Lawn & Pest Control, 1445 W Jefferson St., Brooksville, is accepting applications for the first Middleton Youth Achievement Award competition until Jan. 31.
Designed to give Florida youth a voice by learning what's on their minds, the competition "What's Bugging You?" will reward 19 winners with a $1,000 award for college expenses, an Apple iPod Shuffle and a certificate of recognition.

In honor of National Mentoring Month, a statewide initiative to support Big Brothers Big Sisters mentoring programs will take place throughout nearly 100 participating Arby's Restaurants, including those at 843 S Broad St., Brooksville, and 12915 Cortez Blvd., Spring Hill.
Restaurant patrons will have the opportunity to donate $1 to support their local Big Brothers Big Sisters agency and receive Arby's coupons for their contribution.
The campaign will continue through January, but the coupons will be redeemable through the end of March. All proceeds collected will be distributed by ZIP code to the Big Brothers Big Sisters agencies that serve those areas.

Hernando County Tourist Development needs volunteers to work the county exhibit booth at the Florida State Fair in Tampa from Feb. 8-19. The shifts are four hours and volunteers can spend the rest of the day enjoying the fair.

Paul Conrad, the Edward Jones investment representative in Spring Hill, and Yvetter Caskie, branch office administrator, have accepted limited partnership offerings in Jones Financial Cos., the holding company for the St. Louis financial services firm.
Conrad accepted an invitation to increase his limited partnership holdings while Caskie accepted an initial limited partnership offer.
Beth Doyle, the Edward Jones senior branch office administrator in Spring Hill, has also accepted an invitation to increase her limited partnership holdings in Jones Financial Cos.

Birgit "Bibi" Rudestedt, co-owner of Jobi Accounting & Tax Services, 13015 Spring Hill Drive, Spring Hill, is serving her second three-year term on the board of directors for the National Association of Tax Professionals. She was re-elected as treasurer for 2007.
The association is a national organization with more than 18,000 members. It provides education, research support and other services for its members, who are attorneys, accountants, CPAs, enrolled agents, tax professionals and financial planners.

Dr. Robert Blackburn, board certified family practice physician from Spring Hill, attended the Florida Osteopathic Medical Association's executive board meeting Dec. 1 and board of trustees meeting Dec. 2 in Orlando.
Blackburn was nominated and elected first vice president of the Florida Osteopathic Medical Association for 2007. He holds multiple committee positions with the association.
The meeting included a review of state and national medical care issues.

Prior to joining Re/Max, Rambeau was a saleswoman in the recently closed Brooksville office of Keller Williams Realty of the Florida West Coast.
Rambeau, a graduate of Bert Rodgers School of Realty, entered the real estate field three years ago. She is in the process of finishing her Graduate Realtor Institute designation.

The Nature Coast Human Resources Society, based in Spring Hill, officially affiliates with the Society for Human Resource Management at the group's Chapter Chartering Gala at 5:30 p.m. Jan. 25 at Silverthorn Country Club, 4550 Country Club Blvd., south of Brooksville.
The speaker will be Johnny Taylor, chairman of the Society for Human Resource Management board and vice president of Human Resources for IAC (InterActiveCorp), based in New York City.
The Society for Human Resource Management is the largest human resources professional association in the world, with more than 220,000 members. The Nature Coast society becomes Florida's 28th affiliated chapter. With a membership of more than 40 businesses and human resource professionals from five counties, the local chapter provides a vital service to businesses in Hernando, Citrus and northern Pasco counties.
