By TIMES WIRES
Published January 18, 2007
The Southwest Florida Water Management District has issued an irrigation schedule for once-a-week watering based on house addresses. The schedule has a Monday watering day for addresses ending in zero or one, Tuesday for addresses ending in two or three, Wednesday for addresses ending in four or five, Thursday for addresses ending in six or seven and Friday for addresses ending in eight or nine. Crystal River and Inverness have also adopted the Swiftmud rules. The regulations are effective immediately. Two meetings to address Iraq war The Nature Coast Coalition for Peace & Justice will hold two town hall meetings later this month to discuss the Iraq war. The meetings will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Jan. 25 and from 1 to 3 p.m. Jan. 30. Both meetings will be at the new Spring Hill Library, 9220 Spring Hill Drive. For information, call (352) 686-9936. Skate court will be open dawn to dusk The Bicentennial Park skate court has new operating hours - from dawn to dusk. Law enforcement officers, with the support of Citrus County Parks and Recreation, will strictly enforce the new hours. Any violation of the rules will be punishable by law and may subject the violator to the immediate revocation of privileges and the cancellation of entrance to county parks. The skate court is an unsupervised facility, and safety equipment is highly recommended. Registration and parent or guardian signatures are required for skaters younger than 17. Registration waivers can be obtained at the Bicentennial Park Pool office or the Parks and Recreation administrative office in Lecanto. For information, call Citrus County Parks and Recreation at 527-7677. State legislators pass sinkhole bills The Florida House and Senate passed bills Wednesday that would make sinkhole coverage optional in order to lower rates in Tampa Bay areas hit hard by claims. Lawmakers must still iron out differences in the details of the bills. After an afternoon of haggling, the House added a requirement that policyholders be notified in bold type that their insurance policies lack sinkhole coverage and the coverage is offered. Only collapses of homes would be covered in basic insurance policies. Once differences are fixed, the full Legislature must approve the measures urged by Pasco County lawmakers, which are part of larger packages of insurance bills. Correction Crystal River will be reconstructing the northern pier at Pete's Pier beginning Tuesday. The northern pier will be closed through Feb. 6. Because of incorrect information from the city, Wednesday's Citrus Times gave a different schedule.
