Fundraiser mixes martinis with artwork

The fourth annual "Martinis and Matisse" fundraiser for the Clearwater Free Clinic is scheduled for 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday at the Clearwater Main Library, 100 N Osceola Ave. The event will feature more than 80 artists who have donated various works for an "art lottery." Patrons will sample martinis and graze from a buffet from seven local restaurants. The private, nonprofit Clearwater Free Clinic, 707 N Fort Harrison Ave., provides free medical care to low-income, uninsured residents of upper Pinellas County. Tickets are $125 per person, or $200 for a patron-level ticket. Call 443-5215 by noon Friday for reservations. Heritage Village needs volunteers Heritage Village is looking for people who enjoy learning and sharing local history to serve as volunteers at its 21-acre living history museum at 11909 125th St. N. Dinner honors officer's memory Pinellas County's 13th annual appreciation dinner for law enforcement officers, firefighters and EMS personnel is scheduled for 6 p.m. Jan. 26 at the Palm Court Pavilion of the Renaissance Vinoy Resort, 501 Fifth Ave. NE in St. Petersburg. Tickets are $50. Proceeds benefit the Children's Burn Foundation of Florida. City to give away crape myrtle trees In recognition of Arbor Day - the third Friday in January in Florida - Dunedin will give away 350 3-gallon crape myrtle trees from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at St. Andrews Links Golf Course, 620 Palm Blvd. Trees will be available to Dunedin residents only, and proof of residency will be required. Tour Plumb House Museum for free The Clearwater Historical Society holds free tours of the historic Plumb House Museum, at 1380 Martin Luther King Jr. Ave., from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. today and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday in January. The Cracker-style house, built in 1896, was the birthplace of Clearwater's first public school teacher, for whom Plumb Elementary School is named.
