Organist returns to the classics

Organist Paul Jacobs gives a recital at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Music Center on the Gibbs campus of St. Petersburg College, 66th Street and Fifth Avenue N, St. Petersburg. Jacobs will play works of Franck, Mendelssohn, J. S. Bach and John Weaver, his mentor and predecessor as chairman of the organ department at the Juilliard School in New York. Last March, Jacobs wowed a discerning audience largely made up of fellow organists in a concert presented by the St. Petersburg chapter of the American Guild of Organists. $10. (727) 341-4360.
