Chapter Two is one of Neil Simon's autobiographical plays, his account of what he went through after his beloved first wife, Joan, died of cancer, and how he eventually got remarried to Marsha Mason. Despite some good times together, the playwright and actor did not live happily ever after - they divorced eight years later - but the play was a big success when it opened on Broadway in 1977. Mason co-starred with James Caan in the less successful movie.

The American Stage production, directed by David Grapes, opens Friday and runs through Feb. 11. The cast includes Christopher Cass and Julie Rowe, pictured below.

Chapter Two has shows at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, 8 p.m. Friday, 3 and 8 p.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday. $22-$35. (727) 823--7529; www.americanstage.org.
