Rhythm Festival puts artistry into footwork

Tap dancer par excellence Margaret Morrison is featured at the Rhythm Festival this weekend at the University of South Florida in Tampa. Morrison will perform in Take a Seat, a program that also includes Rhythm in Motion Bay Area Dance Company, at 8 p.m. Saturday in Theatre 1. $15, $20. The festival also presents the Columbus, Ohio, Dance Theatre and other performers in Tim Veach's ballet Matchgirl, a staging of the Hans Christian Andersen story. Performances are at 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday in Theatre 1. $10, $20. For tickets, call the Children's Dance Workshop at (813) 907-5974 or the USF box office at (813) 974-2323.

Morrison will give master classes on tap dance technique and improvisation at 7:30 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. Saturday at Theatre 1. $15, $20. Call (813) 789-6033 for class registration.
