Folk fest: The UU Dome will hold its Mini-Folk Fest from 2-6 p.m. Saturday at 11400 Morris Bridge Road. Performers include Art Crummer & Friends, Dale Webber and Linda Fackeldey, Carroll Smith and Cindy Roy, among others. An acoustic folk jam will follow the performances. Make bluebird houses: Come to Lettuce Lake Park, 6920 E Fletcher Ave., 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday to help make bluebird houses. The event, intended to support the dwindling bluebird population in the area, is part of a Girl Scout Gold Award project. Call (813) 494-7013.

Tank's Tap Room anniversary: Tank's Tap Room, formerly Bilmar Station, will celebrate its one-year anniversary all day on Saturday. There will be food, alcohol and live music. The bar is at 13150 N Dale Mabry Highway. Call (813) 541-8405.

Turntable show: DJ Spooky, a musician, conceptual artist and writer, will perform his multimedia show Rhythm Science at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Music Recital Hall, FAH 101, in the USF School of Music, 4202 E Fowler Ave. The show is free. Call (813) 974-6853.

Florida horror authors: Carrollwood's Barnes & Noble bookseller, 11802 N Dale Mabry Highway, will host a reading and book signing by several horror, fantasy, thriller and paranormal romance writers from throughout Florida, 1-4 p.m. Feb. 2. Call (813) 962-6446.

Carrollwood players: The show Last Night of Ballyhoo runs through Jan. 27. Performances are at

8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and at 3 p.m. Sundays at the Carrollwood Playhouse, 4335 Gunn Highway. Tickets are $14 for adults and $12 for children, seniors over age 55 and students with ID.

The theater group is seeking scripts for its annual One-Act Weekend. The plays must be original, require minimal sets, props and costumes. Broadway Theatre Project: The musical theater program held at the University of South Florida will take place July 8-29.
