Published January 20, 2007
A 49-year-old Clearwater man was critically injured Friday morning in a three-car collision at U.S. 19 and Hammock Pine Boulevard, the Florida Highway Patrol said. Steven Klics was going north in the right lane of U.S. 19 at 8:30 a.m. when he tried to change to the left lane, troopers said. His 2007 Chevrolet collided with a Jeep driven by James Spoon, 36, of Lakeland and began to spin counterclockwise, they said. The Chevy struck a third car before coming to a stop. Klics was taken to Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg. Spoon and the people in the third car were not injured. An investigation was continuing, and no charges had been filed Friday afternoon.
