Nightstand

Before Paula Poundstone's appearance Friday at Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center, we caught up with the comedian and author of There's Nothing in This Book That I Meant to Say. Q: What's on your nightstand? I read four or five books at once, mostly geared towards my kids' reading, but the adult book on my nightstand is Fiasco: The American Military Adventure in Iraq by Thomas E. Ricks. Do you recommend it? I recommend it, but it might make you cry over the Iraq situation. Do you have a particular book that has stayed with you? When I was in kindergarten, my teacher, Mrs. Bump, read The Five Chinese Brothers, and it has stayed my all-time favorite . . . because it was so weird, especially the illustration of the one brother getting stretched.
