The GFWC Clearwater Community Woman's Club has selected Marie Grein as its 2006 Volunteer of the Year for her service to the club and community.

Grein joined the club in 2004 and was elected treasurer, keeping track of all the funds raised by the club's Daisy Award Fashion Show and Evening With the Authors.

A former teacher, Grein was a member and past president of the North Pinellas County Retired Educators Association and is currently president-elect of the Florida Retired Educators Association.

Each week Grein introduces Skycrest Elementary students to the fascinating world of aerospace through an educational program sponsored by the Ninety-Nines, an International Organization of Women Pilots.

Grein also served as the financial secretary at Faith United Church of Christ in Clearwater, where she worked with the Rev. Anton DeWet, who admired her positive attitude and service to others.

Grein's award was presented at the club's holiday luncheon at Carlouel Yacht Club on Clearwater Beach, where Clearwater Community Woman's Club president Urith Fitzgerald welcomed four new members; Kathleen Moore, Sharon Krischer, Lois Jones and Susan Little.
