Lecture series looks at Thoreau's work

The Scholar's Choice Lecture and Discussion Series explores literary classics presented by scholars from the University of South Florida's Department of English at the Clearwater Main Library, 100 N Osceola Ave. The remaining schedule includes:

- 2 p.m. Jan. 24 - Walden, by Henry James Thoreau, presented by Dr. Maryhelen Harmon.

COUNTYWIDE

Clearwater Bar has help for living wills

Do you have a living will? If you want one, the Clearwater Bar Association will make information on living wills available from noon to 6 p.m. Tuesday at Clearwater's Countryside Library, 2741 State Road 580.

No reservations are required, and assistance will be provided by volunteer lawyers.

A living will gives people a chance to make clear what their wishes are for end-of-life medical care. Forms also are available on the Florida Bar's Web site at www.flabar.org.

PALM HARBOR

Wine and food tasting benefit set for Feb. 8

The Greater Palm Harbor Area Chamber of Commerce's wine and food tasting event, "Evening Extraordinaire," is scheduled for 6 to 9 p.m. Feb. 8 at the Safety Harbor Resort and Spa.

It features cuisine from local restaurants and samples of domestic and foreign wines as well as a silent and a live auction.

Tickets are available through the chamber office, 1151 Nebraska Ave., for $30 or at the door for $35. Call (727) 784-4287.
