Have questions? She's got the answers

ST. PETERSBURG - For five hours Saturday, 13 psychics held court in a back room beyond the food court at the Pier. Every 20 minutes a new seeker pulled up a chair and waited for the palm, the cards, the stones or the spirits to reveal the truths that lie beyond the reach of self-evaluation. By the end of the fourth annual psychic fair, sponsored by the Crystal Mirage Gallery, about 200 people had learned something new about themselves, their future or even, maybe, their past. Many arrived early, signed in for a time slot and then went shopping. The St. Petersburg Times did a reading with Sunshine, 57, an intuition counselor who began practicing her gift at the tender age of 5. Her family never warmed to her abilities: "Mom told me last week, 'Can't you grow up?' " But opening herself to others to help them filter through the white noise and see possibilities is a gift Sunshine - the only name she gave Saturday - says comes from God. The Times asked her what she thought of several issues facing Florida's future. What are we looking at, hurricane-wise, in 2007? I'm not real worried about hurricanes. I'm a little concerned about the drought that's coming. ... I feel if anyone is threatened by storms it's going to be the Miami side. Will the state Legislature have any luck bringing down property insurance rates? I feel that people are just now beginning to take notice. But people have to take back the power. It won't come from the government. People have to take back the Legislature. What about global warming? Will Florida be underwater? It isn't going to get any better, and I have never been able to see past 2012, so big changes are on the way. What about Fidel Castro? How soon will we be needing those advance obits? I feel he'll get weaker and worse this year. I also think he has cancer, and he's not being honest.
