HANDICAPPING HOLLYWOOD HOPEFULS The Oscar nominations will be announced Tuesday morning, and there aren't many sure things this year. We would bet on Helen Mirren, and we hope for a sixth-time-lucky best director nomination for Martin Scorsese. But we're pretty sure Sacha Baron Cohen's uproarious Golden Globes speech sealed his Oscars fate - not that anything as transgressive as Borat had much chance with the stuffy academy. On the stage that matters Tuesday night, President Bush will give his State of the Union address. Debate on a proposed nonbinding Senate resolution opposing Bush's escalation of the Iraq war is expected to begin Wednesday. On Saturday, people from across the nation will speak out for more decisive steps to end the war. They'll gather for the March on Washington, sponsored by MoveOn.org, RainbowPUSH, the National Organization for Women and hundreds of other organizations. For information, go to www.unitedforpeace.org. Worst. Traffic. Jam. Ever. Fans of pirates, gospel music and/or taunting French knights will converge on the center of Tampa on Saturday, what with the Bill Gaither and Friends show at the St. Pete Times Forum, Spamalot continuing its run at TBPAC and the Gasparilla Pirate Invasion all over the place. Bring your patience. Prettier than most of those pirates Sunday night at Tampa Theatre, the satins, flounces and feathers will be "Stylishly Hot" - the title of this year's Ebony Fashion Fair. Not only are the styles onstage gorgeous, the people in the audience for the glitzy charity affair turn out in their most fabulous outfits, too. Call 813 231-1340 for tickets. No statuette, but here's cake Three past Oscar nominees celebrate birthdays this week. On Friday, David Strathairn (2006, Good Night, and Good Luck) turns 57. James Cromwell (1996, Babe) will be 65 on Saturday, and on Sunday Alan Alda (2005, The Aviator) is 71. By Colette Bancroft, Times staff writer, (727) 893-8435 or bancroft@sptimes.com.
