Central swimmer makes FHSAA team

Central senior Rae-Lynn Sheffield was named to the 2006-07 Florida High School Athletic Association All-Area III swimming and diving team. Sheffield, the 2006 Times' Hernando/Citrus Swimmer of the Year, placed second at the Class 2A state meet in the 100 breaststroke. Lecanto swimmer Taylor Cooke also named to the team. GOLF TOURNAMENT FOR HOSPICE: Members of the Heather Golf & Country Club, 7406 St. Andrews Blvd., Weeki Wachee, will host a tournament on Saturday that will benefit the Hernando-Pasco Hospice. All interested golfers are invited to play. Registration begins at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start at 8:45 a.m. The $25 entry fee includes golf, a cart and lunch catered by the Honey Baked Ham Company. The fee is $20 for those who prefer to walk the course. No handicap is required and the format will include a points quota system. More than $500 in prizes will be awarded and there also will be raffle gifts. Contact chairperson Eileen Ball at (352) 596-7880 to register. HPH is a not-for-profit agency that serves more than 850 patients daily who are affected by a life-limiting illness in Hernando, Pasco and Citrus counties regardless of their ability to pay. Most care takes place in private residences, but HPH also serves patients in nursing homes and assisted living facilities or at its Hospice House or Hospice Care Center, both located in Brooksville.
