Last chance for show tickets

Today is the deadline to purchase tickets for the St. Theresa Council of Catholic Women's annual fashion show, which will be at 11:30 a.m. Feb. 7 in the parish hall, 1107 Commercial Way.

The theme will be Calendar Days. The show will feature fashions by Beall's Department Store. The cost is $18, which includes a catered lunch.

BROOKSVILLE

Group to distribute food at church

Compassion Food Outreach will distribute food starting at 8 a.m. Saturday at Grace World Outreach Church (formerly Brooksville Assembly of God), 20366 Cortez Blvd.

The distribution will continue until the food is gone. Photo ID is required. The program is cosponsored by the church and Mid-Florida Community Services. All participants must register to receive food.

Blood mobile will roll in, so roll up sleeves

LifeSouth Community Blood Center and Abbey Prime Care will host a blood drive from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday. The bloodmobile will be in the parking lot at 8355 Northcliffe Blvd.

All blood donors will receive a gift and a free cholesterol screening. Donors must be at least 17 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds and show a valid photo ID.

Deadline is Thursday for landscape training

The registration deadline is Thursday to participate in the next lawn and landscape expert training session offered through the Hernando County Cooperative Extension Service.

Urban horticulture agent Jim Moll will provide the four-week training from 8:30 a.m. to noon Thursdays, Feb. 1-22, at the extension office at 19490 Oliver St.

Participants will gain practical knowledge about proper care for their landscape by learning about insects, pesticides, pruning, fertilization, lawn care and citrus. There is a $20 fee, which will cover the cost of course materials and refreshments.

BROOKRIDGE

Vogues to perform at clubhouse Feb. 8

Brookridge Entertainment will present the Vogues in concert Feb. 8 at the Brookridge Clubhouse, 8150 Hampton St.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and show time is 7 p.m. Tickets are $15.

The Vogues will sing songs such as My Special Angel and Turn Around, Look at Me.

Free class offers tips on weed control

Florida Yards and Neighborhoods Coordinator John Korycki will present a free class, "Weed Control for the Spring Lawn," at 10 a.m. Jan. 30 at the Westside Government Center, 7479 Forest Oaks Blvd.

The class will cover proper timing, cultural control methods and the most effective chemicals to do the job properly.
