FSU faces tough road with just 5 home games

If Florida State is to rebound from its worst record in a generation, it will have to overcome what coach Bobby Bowden calls his team's toughest schedule since it joined the ACC in 1992.
The Seminoles have but five home games, including Oct. 20 against Miami, their fewest since '97 and three fewer than last season when they finished 7-6.
The road load begins Labor Day with a prime-time showdown against Clemson, then a trek to Colorado, a Thursday night stop at defending ACC champion Wake Forest in October, and November trips to Boston College, Virginia Tech and national champion Florida.
"There is no doubt that if we have success with this schedule," Bowden said, "we will be back where we belong."
Times and television information will be announced later.
MIAMI SCHEDULE: Randy Shannon's debut as coach will be Sept. 1 against visiting Marshall. The 12-game schedule includes seven home games and six against bowl teams from 2006.
"It's a very competitive schedule, like the University of Miami is always accustomed to," Shannon said.
DORSEY MEMORIAL TODAY: The school is holding a memorial service in the Sun Dome Corral at 4 p.m. today for Keeley Dorsey, the 19-year-old freshman running back who collapsed and died during a workout Jan. 17. The team also will travel to Tallahassee on Saturday for his funeral, which is set for 1 p.m. at Christian Heritage Church.
BUSH PROBE: The existence of taped conversations between Reggie Bush or members of his family and an investor in a failed sports marketing agency could confirm the Saints' running back received cash and gifts while playing for Southern Cal, Yahoo.com reported. A federal investigation into extortion claims by Bush and his family revealed the conversations, Yahoo.com said.
