A resident who was inviting friends and neighbors to his home for coffee was robbed of his hospitality serving coffee machines.

Police are looking for a thief or thieves who took off with four commercial coffee machines valued at $29,000.

Sgt. Armand Boudreau said the Isle of Capri resident was preparing to open his own coffee vending business by testing the newly purchased coffee machines with different flavors of coffee.

"He was inviting people over and giving everyone coffee," said Boudreau. While the victim was out of town, the Barista brand coffee machines were stolen from his garage along with two bicycles, Boudreau said.

Police have issued e-mail alerts to more than 600 residents. Anyone with information should contact Boudreau at the Treasure Island Police Department at (727) 547-4595.

"Somebody knows something," said Boudreau. "Those are huge machines - that's not something you can hide or pawn."
